There’s a hush in the wood,
As nature settles down.
Bracing against wind and rain
While winter comes around.
Then green fades to brown,
That succumbs to white.
Frost decorates the trees,
As winter’s jaws bite.

Love the idea of nature ‘settling down’ – Winter Childhood is the FED Challenge this month – my suggestion inspired by my submission to Diverse 3 and we are doing a specila workshop next WEd with my writing group on text/image collages – subject Both Sides of Winter – it may be bleak but winter is still an inspirational season – as your poem demonstrates.
