The city awakes from its nightly slumber,
Flexing stiff concrete limbs,
Cracking taut tarmac joints.
Junctions slowly start to pulse
Life unhurriedly returns to
The slowly stirring streets.
The flow of people increases
Causing the fresh stirring of wakefulness
To be replaced by inevitable old age.
As the cities arteries slowly clog
Streets rheumatically throb
As the groaning city begins another day.
